Ferrostaal comes full circle to Print & Pack

Print & Pack managing director Carstern Wendler

Following the management buyout of Ferrostaal ANZ – the independent provider of printing and packaging solutions – by managing director Carstern Wendler, the company has been rebranded as Print & Pack. It had operated a very successful business under this designation for ten years between 1992 and 2002 and the name was also incorporated in Intergraphica Print & Pack for the ensuing four years before coming under the Ferrostaal banner.

Wendler joined Print & Pack in 1996 as the packaging equipment business development manager. In those days press and packaging solutions from Man Roland and Ferrostaal were the flagship products. In his twenty years with the group, he has seen the company survive more than its fair share of turbulent times from financial, personnel and equipment perspectives.

The packaging sector has been a mainstay of the company and has always operated efficiently according to Wendler. Since his appointment as managing director three years ago, he has overseen a well-honed portfolio of products headed by Komori and Bobst, complemented by print and digital print finishing solutions from Kolbus, Wohlenberg, Morgana, MBO, Osako, Herzog +Heymann, Palamides, Bograma and Meccanotecnica.

Print & Pack currently employs 25 staff in Australia and New Zealand, including eight service engineers in all capital cities. Wendler believes there are solid benefits in having in-house engineers rather than using contractors as the engineers not only specialise in the equipment carried by Print & Pack but can also develop closer relationships with their customers.

Good customer relations are an integral part of the company ethos. Wendler considers the move to local ownership allows the rebranded company to better meet market needs. As an independent supplier it is able to retain the flexibility not available to a company owned by a manufacturer and choose the best solutions for its clients from a wider range of equipment.

For Wendler the choice of the name Print & Pack reflects the company’s core activities, and recognises that people in the industry associate it with a business that offers high levels of service and ethical business standards as its predecessor did in the past.
