Scott Print has retained its title as awards champion, taking out 12 golds at the WA PICAs including the FutureNow Commitment to Workforce Development Award, the Environment Award (shared with Picton Press) and Best of Category Award, as well as four silver and ten bronze honours.
Scott Print’s remaining golds came from leaflets/foldedleaflets; booklets, catalogues, magazines (both up to 64 pages and over 80 pages categories); and self-promotion; while it had a clean sweep in the bookprinting categories for offset and digitalcase bound, and bookprinting offset and digital limp bound.
Rival Perth printer Advance Press, which took out last year’s Best of Category Award and tied with Scott Printers for the most golds in 2014, scored five of the coveted awards this year. It shared three of these with Scott Print: booklets, catalogues and magazines up to 80 pages and both digital and offset bookprinting case bound. It also won the booklets, catalogues and magazines up to 32 pages category for both digital and offset.
Quality Press scored four gold awards while Multi-Color scooped the Label categories with three golds and Fast Finishing took out the two gold awards for finishing. Graphic Source and Fairfax Media also featured among the gold winners with two awards each. Percival Print & Packaging, S&T Graphic Design, Intafoil, Seven WestMedia and Gateway Printing were the remaining gold winners.
During the Gold Logie themed event held at Perth’s Rendezvous Hotel, Westcare apprentice Jay Brown was recognised with the Media Super Young Executive of the Year Award. He was also named Heidelberg Graduate of the Year.
